This very special and rare fernleaf peony has double red flowers set against a backdrop of fernlike, finely dissected foliage. This selection blooms a couple of weeks earlier than the others in late spring. A permanent, sunny or partly shady site is ideal. Protection from afternoon sun and from harsh winds will help to prolong the lives of the the exotic flowers. Peonies will perform best in well-drained, evenly moist, rich soil with a pH near neutral and they are drought-tolerant once established.  Note:  fern leaf peonies may go brown and dormant after flowering so mark the site well so you don’t dig it up accidentally.
