This villosa hybrid, part of the Carnival series, known for their tidy mounding habit and excellent heat and humidity tolerance, has large, rounded, lobed mint green leaves, splashed with silver and burgundy. Sprays of small flowers in summer. 'Cocomint' shines in the shade with its bright green foliage accented in silver highlights. Protect from hot afternoon sun to prevent leaf scorch. Remove any winter-burned leaves in the spring, otherwise no pruning is required.

Propagation: Plants may develop bare woody bases over time. Topdressing with compost, mulch or topsoil may help for a season or two but it is usually best to dig up the whole clump in the spring or fall, deepen the planting hole and reset the clump so the base of the foliage is at ground level. Or take the the opportunity to divide the clump, ideally in spring, by breaking off the woody bases where they join, replanting the individual rosettes (don’t worry if they have few or no roots) and discard the remainder.
