Dark red scapes carry raspberry coloured buds which open to rich burgundy red.  It has triangular flower plumes in early to mid summer.  As the flowers age they turn a vibrant shade of fuschia.  Glossy deep green finely dissected leaves form a nice clump in the landscape.


Arendsii hybrids are a large group of hybrids involving crosses between A. chinensis, A. japonica, A. thunbergii and A. astilboides and named after German nurseryman George Arends (1862-1952).


Sun Exposure:  part sun to part shade will tolerate full sun if in soil that stays evenly moist (not soggy), may not flower well in full shade.

Soil Moisture: Moist does not tolerate drying out

Care level:  Easy  (keep them looking good with annual shovel fulls of nutrient rich compost)
